There must be something in GetGoodDrums that I'm missing which would allow itself to receive my MIDI drum track's CC information so that it plays as expected with the sounds from the drum library.Īny ideas at all? I would greatly appreciate it.especially if GetGoodDrums users who use Cakewalk by Bandlab can chime in. GetGoodDrums/Kontakt however does not appear to be receiving any MIDI information at all though from my MIDI drum track, as the kit does not appear to play or react and the track's dB meter does not react. I've routed my MIDI drum track's output to Kontakt like I typically would using Superior Drummer 3, and I can see that my MIDI track is playing. So to recap: I can click on each drum-piece in GetGoodDrums, and the sound that I hear from doing so plays back as is expected. Superior Drummer 3.What is better for your Metal mixThe SD3 cost around 370 Euro & the GGD Metal. I'm sure it is something very simple that I am missing. 2) Toontrack EZdrummer a scaled down version of Superior Drummer that gives you all the essentials. Be careful, you may never need a real drummer again after purchasing this. However, my issue is that as I play back my prepared MIDI drum track, I cannot hear my GetGoodDrums' sound library playing, and it's as if it's not receiving the MIDI information from my drum track at all. 1) Toontrack Superior Drummer the ultimate virtual studio drummer. That tells me that everything is installed properly. I've installed the GetGoodDrums' "Metal" sample library, and within Kontakt/GetGood's user interface (inserted as a soft-synth into a Cakewalk by Bandlab project), as I click on each graphic of the drum-pieces of the kit to hear the single drum-piece play back its sound, I can hear it just as is expected without issue. I typically use Superior Drummer 3 for my drum sounds, and I have no issues whatsoever getting those drum libraries to work flawlessly in my DAW. I personally believe that this comes from the time that toontrack has spent perfecting the craft and learning from past experiences, and that after so many tries, they really really got it right with Progressive Foundry.First, I'll preface that I have not really used Kontakt enough to be even remotely cognizant of what I may be missing here, and this is also my first time using GetGoodDrums. It has like, 15-20 different snares, and every single one sounds awesome, and different. The selection of drums is huge, and I have had a hard time finding any drums that don't sound deliciously good.

I have found, however, that many of the drums in Metal Foundry, particularly the snares, just don't sound that great to me, though there are a handful of drums that sound fantastic.įrom Metal Foundry to Progressive Foundry, I can hear yet another giant leap in the right direction.
GETGOOD DRUMS VS SUPERIOR DRUMMER UPGRADE
I was like, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?!įrom the Avatar kit (the default superior 2.0 kit) to the Metal Foundry kit is a huge upgrade in versatility, and overall sound of the drums. The avatar kit has worn on my ears over the years, and I can usually recognize it in a mix immediately. I can pretty much guarantee that the Avatar kit alone will probably not measure up to GGD, just from hearing some samples. I've used Superior 2.0 Avatar for years, Metal Foundry for a few less years, and just recently got the Progressive Foundry expansion. How does the quality of GGD compare to SD2? The quality seems incredible but again, I dunno how many high priced high quality plugins Bulb has running over every track to get things sounding so crushing. How hard is it to get real good drum tones with GGD? Since there's no built in plugins and no preset packs yet, is there a ton of dialing in to do with your own VSTs if you put all the drums on their own tracks in your DAW.ģ.

I see there's an SD map in the GGD interface, does that actually work out when you wanna use the toontrack midi files for GGD or does it require creating your own mappingĢ. So I have some questions for the masses that have used both because honestly, when it comes to gear demos done by Bulb, Ola, Merrow and a few others, I never really know just how doctored up the tracks are since all of those guys can make seemingly anything sound incredible.ġ. I know this forum is kind of a bulb/periphery praise festival so I can imagine that GGD is getting a ton of use around these parts. It's suited my needs well for a while but I recently heard Getgood drums and it turned caught my ear. I have been a SD2 user for years and normally I use Metal Foundry or Metal Machinery along with it.

I did a few searches and didn't come up with much however I am betting this has been asked and discussed to death so if that's the case please link the other threads and I will read through them.
